![]() Stellaris is ok game, and I sank fuckton of time into it, but it is nothing compared to the brainwork and fun I had with Endless Space. Almost every game of AL I've played, the frustration of the necessity of these manual (and time-consuming) mini-games drove me away. The game was flawed by the silly arcade-like exploration and planetary combat modes. The actual planet / city development aspects of AL were quite good. I'd recommend both of these games to anyone.Īnd not just to glad hand suggestions, I'll add one of my own. And I like the planetary development and planetary warfare implementations here. I think it ties a somewhat randomized story into the 4x genre quire well - far better than anything since. Imperium Galactica 2 is an absolute favorite. Part of my disappointment with Stellaris is the fact that games from the early-to-mid 1990s established the core game play and modern games have done little (or nothing) to improve on or expand that feature set. I'd agree that much of Stellaris feels like a inspirational clone from Ascendency. ![]() ![]() Ascendancy was good, but it never hooked me, much like Stellaris. ![]()
